Delight

Growing up, I often heard an old saying from my parents, second-generation sheep and wheat farmers: "Pink sky at night, shepherd's delight." A pink evening sky was a promise of clear, dry and pleasant weather the following day, something any shepherd would be pretty happy to see.

Science can explain the phenomenon, but also you can trust me when I say it's a remarkably reliable forecasting tool. Even now, whenever I see a pink sky, those words come straight back to me.

When it came time to paint this magical beachscape, I couldn't imagine giving it any sky other than pink. For me, it represents optimism, wonder, and the promise that tomorrow will bring another beautiful day. Delight is a celebration of that feeling.
